Oak Class have been
looking at their senses and as part of this work they went on a sound walk
around the school.
They
drew and wrote words for all of the different noises they heard as they
walked, and had to listen very carefully for some of the sounds which were
quite quiet.
This
work is all about materials and their properties. The children
learned about permanent changes and reversible ones, how different things
are to touch, and did some experiments. For one of these they made a
volcano and observed what happened when two substances were mixed together
- vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.
For this work, Oak Class used their
prior knowledge of using paper as a material. They used the
properties of paper to create 3D collages, twisting, bending, folding and
rolling the paper to make different shapes and heights.
