Chairman of Governors

It is a real joy and a privilege to be the Chairman of the Governors of Honington School and to see the close links with the Church, home and community in action.  The Church has been involved in education for many centuries now, this school being on e of those founded b the Church more than 135 years ago.  Over the years the Church and State have worked in partnership to provide education for all our children.  Since 1944 this school has had Voluntary Controlled status which ensures that the partnership is always there and that the Governors consist of members nominated by the County Council, the Parish Council and the Church, as well as those elected by parents and the staff.

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated, enthusiastic and professional staff working in the this school serving the surrounding villages and the RAF Station.  We welcome the interest that parents take in all that goes on here and the support that they give to us.

The school is very much the heart of the village - the faces of those going by always light up when they hear the children out at playtime - and there is always interest in all that is going on.  This is just one of the positive aspects of our rural setting, for it is a great resource in the teaching of parts of the National Curriculum as well as being a pleasant place for pupils and staff to work in.

I hope that you and your family enjoy your involvement with this school.
